Looking for Peace
Last weekend we continued our series: “He’s Still* Got the Whole World in His Hands” Here is a brief summary of what it means to tap into God’s peace:
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4.7
Peace can often stand in stark contrast to our circumstances, yet Paul tells us to reflect on God’s goodness and mercy in our life until our emotions finally catch up with that reality. We must intentionally detach our emotions from our surroundings and lean into God’s mercy and grace in our life.
Uncertainty can often effect the way we treat and respond to others. As Paul said, we must be full of kindness and not let uncertainty take its toll on our character.
And finally, Paul tells us to load up on prayer and petitions during times of uncertainty. The reason he goes here isn’t because we need to inform God. This is about discovering for yourself the deepest insecurities and hidden values- it’s discovering the “thing behind the thing” of what we really fear, revealing our deepest desires.
Don’t allow anxiety to get the best of you, instead make your requests known to God and place them in His hands, the only hands capable of handling.
Sometimes God intervenes in ways we understand.
All the Time peace is available that exceeds our understanding.
