Steps Toward Financial Freedom
Last weekend we finished up our series, “Life. Money. Hope.” featuring Dave Ramsey.
In Dave’s Financial Freedom courses, he suggests 7 steps toward becoming successful managers of God’s money and resources. Check out these steps and consider what you can begin doing today.
Step 1: $1,000 to start an Emergency Fund for those unexpected events such as loss of a job, car trouble, etc.
Step 2: Pay off all debt using the Debt Snowball. Click here to get started.
Step 3: 3-6 months of expenses in savings to build your full emergency fund.
Step 4: Invest 15% of household income into Roth IRAs and pre-tax retirement as you begin to build wealth.
Step 5: College funding for children
Step 6: Pay off home early by chunking all of your extra money toward the mortgage.
Step 7: Build wealth and live generously by leaving an inheritance for future generations and blessing others with your excess.

Well, I was hoping to stay anonymous but that’s ok, we are so excited about what God has done this past week in our lives financially that God has really laid it on our hearts to share! Two weeks ago God prompted one of us to give to someone who was in need. Through absolute trust in God that He would bless us double, the need was met. I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t know how I was going to get to work the next day because I had 0 cents now (I have so much mores SENSE now!. The next day I found $7 in my coat pocket I hadn’t worn in a while. Woo hoo! Enough gas to get to work and back. When I got home there was a $50 rebate visa card and a $5 rebate check(sent in months ago and forgot). The next day, our mortgage statement came in (unexpected…there was fear!) and our mortgage payment when down almost $29 per month! We had a $142 dentist bill that we can not afford. My husband called them to make payment arrangements and was told there was a mistake, that we only owed $12! We received $250 back from a car rental my husband used! I need to see a specialist for a tooth issue which this covered, with extra cash left! I think the final thing was us having $180 for my husband to get brakes replaced. They were REALLY bad. The total was $208. This may not seem like a problem to most, but when you only have $180, well….My husband picked up the car and spoke with the mechanic and they took $28 off the bill!
GOD IS GOOD PEOPLE! HE IS FAITHFUL WHEN WE ARE NOT, BUT WHEN WE ARE….LOOK OUT! I’M NOT SAYING EVERY WEEK WILL BE LIKE THIS, BUT I CAN’T HELP BUT TELL EVERYONE AROUND US WHAT GOD HAS DONE!
OUR BIGGEST FINANICAL ISSUE NOW IS HONDURAS. IT’S A LOT OF MONEY FOR 4 PEOPLE WHEN YOU START WITH ZERO. I CAN’T WAIT FOR OUR NEXT BLOG TO TELL YOU HOW INCREDIBLE THE TRIP WAS! GOD CAN AND WILL BLESS US FOR OUR GIVING!
Please continue to pray for my husband to obtain employment. This is my first blog. Kinda long!
