Breaking the Bondage of Debt
Speaker: Dave Ramsey
“Debt has been marketed to us in so many forms, to imagine living without it requires a paradigm shift.”
Proverbs 22.7 NRSV
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Proverbs 6.5 NKJV
Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Bondage is broken with:
1. Gazelle INTENSITY
2. Debt SNOWBALL
Who (or what) has been your primary “compass” in your finances? Explain.
How have you successfully saved and invested? What are some challenges that have prevented you from saving?
What is a specific area of your financial life where you need to use gazelle-like intensity?
Next Steps:
- Read Proverbs 6.1-7 and ask God for this type of intensity.
- Register for “I was Broke; Not I’m Not” class for our Spring groups, starting April 13th. Sign up at the Welcome Center.
- Want to knock out debt? Use Dave Ramsey’s Debt Snowball worksheet to help you get started. Visit the Welcome Center for your copy.
