Jesus Loves the Sinner

Speaker: Adam Davis

(listen online here)

Jesus loves the outcast

John 4.9 NLT
The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

Jesus loves the broken

John 8.7 NLT

They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”

Jesus loves the disconnected

Luke 19.10 NLT
For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Jesus loves the sinner

Romans 5.8 NLT

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Jesus’ Love > Your sin

Which most accurately describes how you have recently felt? (outcast, broken, disconnected, sinner)

Many believe there are different levels of sin. Why is it so easy to fall into  this pattern of judgment?

What does it mean for you to join Jesus in loving the sinner?

Next Steps:

  • Need to be reminded of Jesus’ love? Listen to the song “Your Not Guilty Anymore” by Aaron Keyes.
  • Want to put legs to today’s talk? Serve at Elevate or one of our BlessBack opportunities. Mark either one on your 411 card.
  • Seek out someone that feels like an outcast from religion and consider what you can do to show that person authentic love.

Read the verses, answer the questions above, and take with you to your eleven32 small group.
