At Elevate, we want leaders to flourish in what they’re equipped to do…

One of the first things we want to know is what type of leader we are. We use George Barna’s 4 types of leaders to help us do that.

Directing Leader (DL)- is the visionary force, a big picture person and a catalyst

Strategic Leader (SL) – creates plans to incorporate the vision cast by the DL

Operational Leader (OL)- devises systems and procedures to carry out the vision

Team-Building Leader (TBL)- creates community and mobilizes people to pursue the vision

At Elevate, we’re blessed to have one of each of these leaders on staff and recently we summarized our roles within these leadership types. Here’s what we came to:

Ryan Throop  is a TBL and our Community & Spiritual Formation Pastor, these are Ryan’s top 3 functions:
Cultivating community
Teaching/discipling
Shepherding

Dave Behnke is a classic OL and our Executive Pastor of Operations- he functions like this:
Overseeing (elder-ing)
Systematizing
Managing

Aaron Davis is an SL and our Executive Pastor of Strategic Initiatives- here’s his top 3 functions:
Strategizing
Leading
Protecting (elder-ing)

I am a DL and Lead Pastor at Elevate- I function primarily in the following:
Visioneering
Communicating
Directing
