Un-be-liev-able

29 March 2009 5,044 views 18 Comments

Today was Elevate’s Grand Opening service and I have a few Sunday night reflections:

My wife had a thoughtful card laid out on my nightstand this morning that encouraged me – thanks Kristen

Big thanks to those from CedarCreek who came up to help fill volunteer spots & show support.

Worship rocked this morning – good job Elevate Band – loved the Coldplay intro jam.

As people were streaming in this morning, I saw the faces of those who already call Elevate their home church – awe, tears, shock, smiles – just to name a few – it was beautiful.

Highest attendance for a Sneak Peek service was 62 but today 364 people attended our Grand Opening : un-be-liev-able!

The Elevate team was amazing today! From production to First Impressions to Kids – you guys were awesome!!

It hit me hard after service when someone said something like “thanks for this, I had given up on church” – its good to know that God doesn’t give up on us and that’s why Elevate does church the way we do.

Was great to come home, put on some comfy clothes then watch MSU make it to the Final Four and Tiger win his first golf tourney since knee surgery while I played with my son Addison.

I love hearing all the stories of how God is touching lives through Elevate (email yours to mystory@elevate-church.com)

Humbling to see what God has done in such a short time: 20 months ago, my family moved to Monroe to plant a church knowing only one family here & today hundreds of people joined us for worship.

Thanks for all the encouraging emails, text msgs & calls this afternoon – I appreciate the enthusiasm & support.

Can’t wait to see what God will do in the coming weeks, months and years at Elevate!

I’m one of those people who attended elevate church for the first time yesterday and left without really talking to anyone (was a bit crowded) but if I had chatted with you I would have also said something very similar to “I had given up on finding a church”. I am very excited to get involved, spread the word to my friends, and get to know my new church family. A small prayer request to start my journey…let my husband join me for one or two services and for whatever reason decide to start tagging along :) I think this is going to be BIG!! You recognized your calling and are rocking it out, Thanks!

    UH-Mazing!

JC- It’s so awesome to hear your story… thanks for sharing. We would love for you to share your story and send it to mystory@elevate-church.com The Elevate team would be encouraged through your story. Get ready because God’s going BIG here in Monroe.

Absolutely agree with you guys…CRAZY AMAZING! To see all of the journeys represented yesterday coming through those doors was truly unreal. I can’t say enough about the team at Elevate from the time people hit the parking lot to the opening jam (crazy, sick job elevate band!) to the talk on Assumptions (communicated very well Adam), all the way to the time people were leaving. Can’t wait to do it again next week and the week after and the weeek after, well you get the point.
I am blessed to be around such great people!!!!

What a day!!!! I was nervous we wouldn’t hit our projected number of visitors for the Grand Opening. I had faith that God would bring in that number but He blew me away by how many actually attended….364 (WOW). I had the great pleasure of being at the front door to welcome everyone to the service and had trouble keeping up. People were coming from all directions.

I stood at the back of the theater during worship and had a chance to take it all in. I couldn’t contain my emotions. It was overwhelming to see God at work and I can’t wait to see the work He will do in the coming months.

JC, you are correct in saying this (God through Elevate) is going to be BIG. After my first visit to Elevate several months ago I said to Adam that Elevate is going to explode in Monroe. God can and will make this happen and we will be faithful and obedient to the vision God has set before us.

Thanks to all who visited and we look forward to seeing you again Sunday. Great job by the Elevate Team, we love you and look forward to the upcoming journey.

Adam, thank you for being obedient to the vision God placed in your heart. Without your obedience, Elevate Church would not exsist for God to have led my family and me back to Monroe. Thanks to God for faithfulness and blessing Monroe with Elevate Church.

What excitement there is in these comments! The emotion and awe in a vision that is becoming reality gives me a feeling that words can’t describe. And more than the fact that our Grand Opening just happened, and how successful everything was and more than anything else, people’s lives are being touched and desires are being sparked to re-connect to God and that is why elevate exist, that is why we are here. Just hearing those stories like JC’s and others has energized me to a whole new level and am looking forward to the coming weeks and months!

I had soooo much fun yesterday- I can truly say this is the first time in a long time that I am super psyched about attending MY church!!!
After the service yesterday- I was so excited, I could of stayed all day!!
Adam- I really enjoy listening to you teach… Your approach is upfront, life relating, humorous and best of all based on Gods word instead of petty issues that too many churches today are focused on.

The people that make up Elevate are truly amazing!!! Thanks!

That was a great service and I’m looking forward to many more. I just had one question, will the band be playing a closing song to send us on our way? They were excellent!

Emotions were definitely hard to keep back yesterday. It just proves God is BIG – even if we think our vision is big, His is bigger.

The stories that are being told by the people that attended on Sunday are so encouraging to us! Thanks so much for making our Grand Opening a success.

I am looking forward to the next months ahead eagerly waiting to see what God can do through Elevate!

JC: thanks for sharing your story and welcome to the Elevate family

Aaron L & Kristin K: appreciate the kind words about me personally (checks are in the mail by the way ha) – truly humbled to be part of all this

Hey Heath: Elevate is lucky to have a friend like you bro – I’ll never forget the Pre-Launch prayer gathering I attended for COTH-SB campus. It helped expand my vision!

Dave, Aaron, Justin & Ryan: you guys are spot on – its all about God touching people’s lives (our own included)

Steve: If you liked the band, you won’t want to miss what we have planned for Easter and yes sometimes the band will play more than they did this past Sunday – glad you enjoyed the service!

I am so excited to be hearing the feedback from those in attendance yesterday. A friend of Adam’s once told him that when planting a church, make it a church you would want to go to. I think we have successfully done this with Elevate.
Sunday morning I thought about the hundreds of churches we have sat in, prayed in, and preached in all around the world, some on pineapple plantations in the Philippines others in rural villages in Russia, and still more in small and large cities across America, still none have compared to the feeling of attending and participating in OUR grand opening in Monroe.
The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy!

I’m still in the “awe” stage where I’m still looking back and asking, “What just happened?” The amazing thing, I mean the really God-Big kinda thing, is that all this is just the beginning! That almost seems a little overwhelming at this point.
I am so encouraged to hear these amazing stories and perspectives from all of you coming out of our grand opening. This is the kinda stuff that will put God on the map in Monroe, Michigan. I don’t think it ever gets old hearing how God is touching people’s lives. Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories… it’s the espresso in my cup, which definitely overfloweth!

I can honestly say that I am so proud to be apart of Elevate. I stood in an unrealistic awe on Sunday as the people kept flowing in and my heart wept at the movement that God is making on this city. I keep replaying it in my mind excited about what next week will bring! AWESOME!!!!

  • Erica said:

I can’t believe we’re just getting started. The energy and buzz in the theater was amazing, but more so the excitement of what God brings. I had to hold back tears as I looked over the overwhelming amount of people…because the faces I saw put in perspective every frustration, every tear shed over something not happening the way I thought it should, every trial to get to this point…it was all totally worth the sacrifice.
And there’s more to come! We sure did launch, at amazing speed. But it’s not because of us, it’s because God draws us to Him for His joy, His honor.

    Who would have known…
I think God has a way of always doing things in our life to make us wonder! I wondered if elavate was right for me..and Icame to understand I am where he wants me! I was so sure that no one would come…and I was wayyyyyyy wrong! Why would I ever not trust God? He came and put a passion for the people at our church on my heart! God is good!!!! Shane

I was glad to see your service lived up to what I had hoped. The band was quit good. Your message was good.I think you may out grow your theater soon, If you had that many on first service. I think most people will be back. I’ve been going to Cedar Creek for 3 years and hoped that they would open one in Monroe- it’s like they did now.I’ve been telling people they gotta go to Church now I can tell them Monroe too.

  • Nate Kaseman said:

It just goes to show that when you trust God BIG things happen. I was with the kiddies (which was awesome) but I would really like to have a video of the service.
