The purpose of God’s supernatural work is for our _GAIN_ and His _FAME_.
All true beauty points us back to God
Luke 23.6-8 (pg 806)
It’s easy to miss the supernatural when you’re looking for the _SPECTACULAR_.
We tend to overestimate the event and underestimate the process.
In what area of life are you looking for the sensational?
John 14.12 (pg 823)
Following Jesus is an _INVITATION_ to live naturally supernatural.
You are shaped by God to do greater works
Trusting in Jesus is the first step to doing greater works

The cause of Christ is the greatest cause on the planet (okay, actually it’s the greatest cause in the universe). I especially connected with the first point of God’s supernatural work being for our Gain and his Fame. God is the main character, not us. He has prepared us in advance do “do good works” in order to make Him more famous to this generation… Sorry, I’m preaching after I told myself I wouldn’t do that. I’m excited to see the naturally supernatural take place in Elevate! Get ready, because God is going King-Sized!
I know that I have seen God work naturally supernatural in many different ways through many different people. From my experience God tends to take people on different journeys. (Kinda weird seeing that everyone has different personalities and qualities!) For some people He may show burning bushes where it is obvious which decision you need to make. With others it may be slow, small things that got you from point A to point B. I guess the point really is we can’t expect God to work through us the same as He works through others. That is what makes us unique and very special people.
I completely agree with the statement about missing the supernatural due to focusing mainly on the spectacular. We live in a society that wants instant gratification which would produce a sensationalist and/or a spectacular mentality. I have seen it first hand in my life as well as in the lives of those around me. When we focus on the spectacular we really miss seeing how good and faithful God can be IN THE PROCESS!
John 14.12 and Acts 4.13 really hit it for me. The people saw that John and Peter were ordinary men with no special training. We all need to remember that because we follow Christ, not because we have a title or leadership position, we are enabled to do the same works that Jesus did, even greater works! We have access to the same power to walk in the supernatural.
I agree with Emily, Acts 4:13 really stood out for me. Even though John and Peter had no ordinary training, they were able to stand out in boldness because they knew that God was at work in them. It is comforting to know that we too do not have to rely on ourselves in this journey through life, but we are able to stand in boldness through our supernatural God! With Him, there are no limits as to what is able to happen!
Wow you guys are dropping some knowledge! Good stuff keep it coming.
I have to agree that our society has tried to show us that Supernatural means “dark, mysterious, and spectacular.” While that is one side of supernatural, the side we as Christians need to focus on is the opposite. We can live a supernatural life everyday, and that is something that Jesus calls us to do. Our supernatural can be anywhere from small miracles throughout the day to ones that can be spectacular to see. Living in the “Naturally Supernatural” can come in many sizes, shapes and forms – but we must make sure it is LIGHT and done for God, not the way that the world wants us to think of it.
