As promised, a major announcement…
On my last post, I mentioned that I was excited to make a major announcement this week on the treeoflife blog. And though delayed a couple of days due to technical difficulties, the day for the news is here.
Kristen and I have always known that church planting is a part of the DNA of treeoflife, and for quite some time now, we have been talking about planting a church in the U.S. when the time was right. Well, that time is now and we know the location.
So today, after nine months of prayer and preparation; Kristen, Addison and I moved east across the state of Michigan to a new city. Monroe is a medium sized town in the Detroit Metro area and about 20 miles north of the Ohio state line. And we’re not the only ones going: my sister Emily is coming with us this week and later this month the Ruess family (Justin, Erica, and Anna) will make the move. All of them have been an integral part of treeoflife since we started in 2004.
Although the church will not launch for at least a year, the work begins now to form new relationships, build a launch team, and reach others for the cause of Jesus. The work overseas will not only continue but expand as well (more on that on a later post).
Be a part of the exciting journey we’re embarking upon by praying for us and the new town (Monroe). Also look for treeoflife blog posts on church planting in the future.

The Ruess family is anxious to get over there with you! Hope all the moving goes great and we will see you soon!

Yeah!! This is huge and I know you will do very well over there. We are already missing you all so much! We all know this is the right move, will it be easy?? No, but it will be so worth it! To have a purpose outside ourselves is something God created us to have and very few can say they have that. I hope you know what a gift that is?
I have never given much thought to that side of the state but now it is on my mind most of the time, well certain people that live there are…..
